hm weird me....hell yes (open)

I stayed down trying to catch a fish for a little bit. I was good at holding my breath. I had to be after all for my powers.

Jemma:

I floated on my back and closed my eyes letting my skin soak up the much needed sun. It was nice being with Alex. I had no sense of responsibility with him, so I didn’t have to pretend to be something I wasn’t, like happy.

I eventually kicked back up to the surface, a fish in my hand. I climbed onto the boat and headed down into it to check it out. I found a small fishing kitchen and set to work preparing it to eat.

Jemma:

I eventually opened my eyes to find that I had drifted a fair ways from the boat. I started swimming back. It was near impossibly to take off from the water, especially when my wings hand been soaking in the water. I looked for Alex in the water but didn’t spot him. I shrugged, he could probably take care of himself. I found a cupboard with some towels and took one to wrap around myself. I left my wings out to dry and flopped down onto a bench, laying on my stomach.

Once it was cooked and put over a bed of rice. I took the plate of food out onto the deck, looking up at the sky over head. It was a lot darker than I expectecd it to be. I glanced over towards Jemma before moving over and setting the plate in front of her. With that I neatly jumped over her to dive into the water.

Jemma:

I sat up and looked over the edge where he had disappeared into the water then glanced at the fish he had prepared. So he could cook.. I took a bite.

I had learned from one of the best cooks in the world, after all it was to help with my cover that I could do something productive for the group. Cooking was something I enjoyed doing actually, and it made me feel calmer when I did do it.

Jemma:

“Alex? Aren’t you going to eat?” I called to him, leaning over the rail, my towel falling down around my hips.

I surfaced right underneath her, and blinked in surprise at the view I was presented with. "Erm, yeah just wanted to catch more fish." I said meeting her eyes.

Jemma:

“Here,” I went over to the closet and grabbed a net. I tossed it down to him. “This might help.”

I looked at the net and dropped the fish I already had in my hands in it before climbing out of the water and pulling it out. It already had 3 fish in it. "Do you want me to make stuff for your family and friends? If not you could just go take this fish to them yourself."

Jemma:

“You want to make dinner for them?” I asked, a little surprised. I supposed I trusted him enough to take him back.. He was Michael’s brother after all…

I shrugged. "Why not? I have nothing better to do and I'm kind of stuck out here until you take me back." I said flashing her a grin as I headed below deck again. "Its kind of like I'm your slave here."

Jemma:

I snorted. “How fancy.” I commented. I leaned against the rail and looked out at the setting sun. My skin felt a little warm. Maybe I had been out too long. I followed Alex down and searched for a mirror, I did look a little rosy.

I started cooking, singing softly under my breath as I worked, a calm happy look on my face. This was my favorite place to be. And being able to cook for people was the best.

Jemma:

I wandered over behind Alex, watching him curiously. I had the towel tied around my waist now.

I was mostly dry because of the heat of the kitchen, it was warm enough in their to cause me to sweat a bit, giving me a slight sheen. I didn't stop working, wanting to make sure this meal was as good as I could make it.

Jemma:

“You learned to cook in the school?” I asked pulling a chair up and hugging my knees.

I nodded. "Yeah, my powers to move through shadows let me get any ingrediant they needed. I cooked for the upper scientists. It was my only freedom."

Jemma:

“Funny how they have favorites like that.” I said bitterly. “And others are stuck being tortured every other day.”

I turned to look at her. "Favorites? Yeah, I wish I could have been a favorite..." I trailed off as my voice caught a little. "You know, Michael and I had a sister once? The last day of the second week I was able to actually cook...Have you ever been eight years old and telling your sister its alright that I would see her soon as you hug her and slit her throat. Have you ever gotten to carve up a family member because one of the higher ups was hungry for a snack?" I shook my head. "No, I was never a favorite, they just broke me enough that fighting back would never happen." I said as I turned up the heat on the stove. The flame shot higher illuminating my skin that was a patchwork of scars. The scars could only be seen if the light hit them just right or you were really close. It was a familiar sight to those who had ever been to the whip. I had them on my entire body, but not all the scars were from the whip. Some I had done myself. Those were easy to see, they had the sloppy handy work compared to the straight lines of the whip.

Jemma:

I cringed at his words. “It was worse than hell, for anyone who has ever been in the school.” I whispered. “Some scars aren’t as easy to see.” I clasped my hands together to keep them from shaking as my mind swirled with memories.

I nodded slowly before noticing her shaking. I checked the food briefly to make sure it would be fine before I went over and hugged her wordlessly. It was a hug of companionship, from one person who had been through hell to another. It was a wordless gesture, just saying that I was there and I understood.

Jemma:

I was surprised for a moment but hesitantly put my arms around his neck, hugging him back even as another tremor went through my body.

I felt the tremor and rubbed her back quietly, not saying a word just holding her close. Like Michael I radiated warmth, and I just tried to be as soothing as possible, as well as comforting.
