Boarding School for the Mythical

"Do you even doubt me?" I teased back, flashing her a wink.

Tabitha:

I laughed softly. “I trust you.” I said with a bright smile.

"Then come on, we have a bit of a drive ahead of us." I said leading her towards the parking lot, where Vel's car awaited us.

Tabitha:

“Oh? How far?” I asked curiously, lightly squeezing his hand.

"About an hour, and where we are going Shade will be much adored." I told her, chuckling softly.

Tabitha:

“By people? He doesn’t much like people… He tends to bite..” I said apprehensively.

"I doubt that he will bite these people, and if he does. They are used to it." I promised, holding her door open.

Tabitha:

I blinked in confusion at him but slid into the car seat and took Shade from him, settling him in my lap.

I climbed in myself and then started up the car. After that I took off down the road, heading for the surprise destination.

Tabitha:

I smiled at him for a minute before Watching Shade put his paws on the window, his tail swishing slightly. “I’m afraid he might get fur in your car.” I said as I tried to make him sit still in my lap.

"Well, good thing its not my car then. It's Vel's." I responded with a soft chuckle.

Tabitha:

“Oh.” I said and glanced around. It unnerved me a little to be in the vampire’s car. Shade didn’t seemed to mind, he just watched out the window.

I reached over to pat her leg gently. "It's okay, he doesn't know. And will probably be most unhappy when he finds out. But there isn't anything he can do about it."

Tabitha:

“I just keep forgetting that he’s your best friend.” I said quietly.

"I am immortal, its...nice having someone always there who is just as long lived as you." I said softly, my mind elsewhere.

Tabitha:

“Oh.” I said softly, feeling very young. I wondered how he felt about me being mortal, or if he even thought about it.

Sphinx:

I raised an eyebrow at her, wondering why she had gone quiet.

Tabitha:

“Does it bother you..” I finally spoke. “To care for someone who isn’t going to live as long as you?” I asked quietly.

Sphinx:

"Every time. But you get used to the pain, and you reach a point where all you do while they are alive is make sure they are incredibly happy. And so that is what I plan on doing." I said after a few minutes had passed.

Tabitha:

“But you don’t age do you?” I asked. I couldn’t help feeling badly for him. He couldn’t really live a full life, even if he lived forever.

Sphinx:

"I will never die from old age, or from sickness. I have yet to reach the point of taking too much bodily harm yet as well. Though thirty seven bullets is no small amount of pain. But no, I do not age, at least not by my choice. Age is how I feel like I want to be. I have been a child for a few centuries, I have been an old man with a beard." I said quietly.

Tabitha:

“Have you really?” I asked, suddenly sidetracked from my line of thought.

I nodded. "Yeah, that lasted only for decade, beards tend to be itchy and are hard to keep groomed." My lips twisted into a wry smile.

Tabitha:

I smiled. “It’s hard to picture you with a beard.” I said honestly and wrinkled my nose a little while smiling.

Sphinx:

"I looked like an Indian guru at the time." I said with a chuckle.
