Jemma:

I went to the end of the hall, but stopped short when I saw Michael. I didn’t say anything and crossed my arms.

"I expected you to hit me, but glaring works too." I said my eyes flicking towards her before going back to looking around the room.

Jemma:

Every word he said tugged at my heart. Alex looked like him, but didn’t really sound like him. “What the hell are you doing here? How the hell is this even possible?” I demanded, coldly.

Michael:

"Because someone paid a price for my soul and Alex's. Murdering an innocent child is not looked upon well, nor is suicide. But the people upstairs are suckers for love and family. So...Kat should be fine if the two of them keep going." I smiled a bit. "I am here in front of you though, because Kat made the powers Alex and I control think he was under attack. And so I came out, then she ripped away the shadows that defined me. And so...here I am. Though once the shadows come back...I will be going back in Alex to be the buffer between him and his powers."

Jemma:

I tried to swallow the lump in my throat and dropped my gaze. So he wasn’t staying for good… I saw a vase on the side table and snatched it up before throwing it at him as hard as I could.

The vase hit me and I did nothing to stop it. I rubbed the back of my head before turning to look at her. "I hope you haven't been doing that to Alex."

Jemma:

I clenched my fists a little at that. “Of course not. Alex hasn’t hurt me like you have.” I hissed.

"I hurt you?" I asked turning around slowly. I made no pretense of hiding my emotions, matching them to the same that had been on my face at the time of my suicide. Raw pain and sadness.

Jemma:

I let out a breath and looked up as my eyes pooled with tears. “More than anyone else ever has. I didn’t even think that was possible.” I said quietly.

Michael:

"I'm sorry for what it is worth. But I am not the one you were supposed to be with. Alex is." I told her gently.

Jemma:

“Oh god.” I took in several breaths and wiped the hot tears away. “Then you’ve ruined everything.” I half choked.

"Ruined everything? How?" I asked, tilting my head.

Jemma:

I moved over and sunk onto the couch. “I loved you. I really did. It took me months to even recover from what you did. And then Demi left. I wonder if she was even real now…” I leaned over and put my head in my hands. My heart hurt too much. “So if I’m supposed to be with Alex… I can’t get you out of my mind, he looks like you. Act’s like you sometimes. Smells like you. I was in love with you. How am I supposed to get over you when I’m with Alex? Knowing now that you’re there too?” I looked up at him.

I stood there silently for several seconds before moving over and reaching out. "Jemma, I am dead. I am here only long enough for the shadows to grow again and then I will be back inside Alex. I loved you too Jemma, I really did. When I am Kage, I don't think like I can now. I can only focus on whats best for Alex. And in this instance you are what is best for him." I looked down at the ground before motioning for her to follow me. "We all live for a purpose, my purpose now is to be the buffer between Alex and his powers. For me, I didn't have much power, but I had control over it always. Alex has too much power inside of him and he can't control it." I stood at the window looking out at Alex. "This is what Alex was before I came along. He is self destructive after our sisters death."

Jemma:

I looked at Alex, then back to Michael. My heart hurt so much, it was like the scab that had formed over his death was ripped off. “I don’t want you to go.” I whispered.

Michael:

"I must. Alex isn't me, but he needs you. Alright?" I told her watching Alex still.

Jemma:

“Okay.” I breathed and hugged myself. “It’s not fair though.” I whispered.

Michael:

"Would you abandon him and pick me? Someone who should have stayed a fox?" I asked softly.

Jemma:

I shook my head miserably. “I couldn’t do that. You chose death over me.”

Michael:

"I chose death over life, not death over you. My mind was plagued by the shadows that now plague Alex." I told her softly, "I had perfect control, but even then I could slip. If I could I would have stayed alive and stayed with you. But then he out there would have been dead, or I would have had to kill him."

Jemma:

I sniffled a couple times. “But we never even had a chance… You and I.” I said softly.

"No. We didn't. But that is for the best perhaps. I was sterile Jemma. I knew it, just as I knew Demmi wasn't my child." I said just as softly.

Jemma:

I let out a heavy breath. “Am I ever going to see you again? Like this?” I asked him.

I shrugged my shoulders. "I am not sure, probably not though, for the best perhaps. I wont remember any of this once I go into Alex's shadow world."

Jemma:

“Can I touch you?” I asked weakly.
