I kissed her cheek back and nodded. "Go catch up and have fun, I'll take care of food for everyone." I gave her a squeeze with an arm before retreating into the kitchen.

Jemma:

I went to sit down on the couch with Kai and Kat. Adam seemed to look torn between trying to stay and make an attempt to talk to us, or leaving. Kai’s unwelcoming stare made the decision for him. I turned to talk to the two after he was out of the room.

I had kept my eyes on Adam until he was out of sight. It was only then that I realized that Jemma was sitting beside me.

Outside the kitchen window there was a soft glow behind a tree then a little blur of brown darted by.

Jemma:

Kai told me his side of what happened after they left the school how some girl had helped them out and helped him take care of Kat until she woke up.

Alex:

I blinked and cocked my head to the side. A glow? A flash of brown? Something was out there. I glanced towards the living room before moving to the back door and stepping out into the yard.

Kat:

I stayed quiet letting the two of them talk while I closed my eyes. I felt exhausted, and not just from flying while being so weak.

“Demi?” The small child said in confusion, looking at the little house in confusion. This was not her intended destination. She brightened when the door opened and out came someone she knew, her little mind didn’t connect that he was younger now. She bounded out from the trees with a little giggle. He had found her! Their game was all that mattered, that they were in a complete different place was beside the point.

"Is anyone ou-" I cut myself off as a child came bounding up tackling into my legs and bringing me to the ground. The girl, I recognized that much, looked to be about three years old and was grinning triumphantly down at me. I could only blink in confusion.

Demi let out a little trill of laughter, her fox ears had been laying flat when she pounced but now they popped up and she tilted her head to the side to look at him. He wasn't smiling like he was before, not laughing with her.

I smiled slowly. "Hi you. How did you get here? Are you alone?" I asked though my eyes were drawn to the ears poking from the top of her little head. My own ears twitched slightly as I smiled gently to the young girl.

Demi tilted her head more and her ears twitched at the questions. “Demi…?” She was confused and didn’t understand his behavior.

"Demi? Is that your name? It's a really cute name for a cute girl." I smiled at her and gently sat up, moving my arms around her to hold her against me as I worked myself to my feet.

The little girl snuggled against him and nuzzled his shoulder content to be held in his arms.

I rubbed her back gently and carried her inside. "How about you help me make food hm?"

Tawny down covered wings twitched on her back when he rubbed them. She leaned into him, swinging her little legs as he carried her.

I smiled softly, though I was still confused where the girl had come from. The feeling of her wings under my fingers only made me pause for a second before I brought her inside. I set her down on the counter and took a moment to grab a cookie for her to have while I started work on the meal.

Demi nibbled at the cookie and swung her legs watching Alex walk around the kitchen preparing food. She jumped down from the counter with a little flutter of her wings and a grace that no normal child that young ever had. She bounced over and hugged his leg.

I smiled down at her. "Hey you. Here taste this." I grabbed a clean spoon and got some of the food on the end of it to offer down to her.

The little girl stiffed it then laid her ears down flat while she scrunched her nose.

"No? Too much spice? I thought so too. Was hoping it would be fine for others. Well shoot...hm. What do you say to pancakes and hashbrowns hm?" I asked softly with a smile. "Maybe chocolate chips?"

She bounced up and down at that. “Demi pancakes!” She announced happily. They were his specialty, at least in her time.

I chuckled. "Want to help?" I asked after disposing of the badly made meal. I began gathering out the items necessary for the pancakes.

Demi followed after him and reached out to grab hold of his tail, not to pull, but to gently tug so that he would play with her.

I turned to look at her. "Hm? Oh...hm..." I considered for a moment before smiling and facing my work again. With a sudden whirl I scooped her up to deposit her on my shoulder like a bag of rice before just ignoring her like she wasn't even there.
