Jemma:

I watched him work. “Need any help?” I asked glancing up to his face. I was keeping my distance, I was a few feet away, but for whatever reason, I wanted to be closer.

I smiled at her and nodded. "Yeah, please. I didn't know what you all ate, and pancakes seemed safe. So if you want anything else cooked..." I trailed off and gestured towards the free spots on the stove. I stopped mixing the batter and went over to the pan I had prepared. I turned up the heat and waited for it to warm up.

Jemma:

“Honestly they’ll eat anything.” I told him. “I once caught this one,” I nodded over my shoulder to Kai, “putting strawberry jam, mustard, and ketchup in a sandwich with nothing else. And Sara dips cheese sticks in yoghurt cups.” I moved to the fridge and pulled out the eggs. “I’ll scramble some eggs though.”

I laughed softly shaking my head. "I don't know, that sounds pretty good actually." I remarked before pausing as I heard a small voice speak. "Good morning everyone." A small tiny yawn accompanied it as I glanced over my shoulder spotting a small girl, wings folded on her back while cat ears sat on top of her head. I watched her go over to Kai and gently whack the back of his head and whisper something to him before hugging him. I smiled softly and turned back to flip the pancake.

Jemma:

My eyes stayed on Alex. Did he not recognize her? What if he wasn’t who he claimed he was? What if this was a trap? My mind was a blur of suspicion.

Kai:

I hugged her with one arm and put my other hand on the back of her neck kissing her gently on the cheek before pulling her into my lap happily.

Alex:

I glanced over at Jemma and caught her suspicious look. I winked at her before smiling reassuringly. I spoke up loud. "Kai, you do know that you can get her to do stop moving completely if you pet her behind her ears, between her wings, and at the base of her tail." I felt Kat's eyes on me before she gasped and asked softly "Michael?" I turned and grinned her and I laughed softly as her eyes widened before she dashed over tackling me. "Alex! When did you get here!" I rubbed her back in her favorite place. "Well, yesterday. I'm sure you enjoyed dinner if you ate any."

Jemma:

I breathed a soft sigh of relief and smiled at the two of them. He was telling the truth. There was no reason to doubt him. Kat knew him after all. I glanced at Kai who looked slightly annoyed at having been left. “How are you feeling darling?” I asked kindly, touching Kat’s hair softly. “Better rested?”

Kat:

I smiled up at Alex again my arms still around him as I purred. I turned my eyes to Jemma and nodded. "Mmhmm, though I'm still really sore. Someone." She turned a playful glance towards Kai. "Thought it would be a good idea to wrestle on the bed. He fell off." I made a soft eep as I was suddenly swept off the ground and walked back over to Kai. I was set back onto his lap, where I cuddled against him.

Alex:

"By the way Kai, you should hear about Kat meeting the spray paint." I said innocently before grinning as her eye widened, her jaw dropped, and her cheeks turned red. All at once she was happy to see me, to mortified. I laughed and went back to making pancakes.

Kai:

“What does he mean about spray paint?” I asked, cupping her flushed cheek to turn her face to look at me.

Jemma:

I tried not to watch Kat and Kai together. It bothered me that they were so close and yet so young. I focused on scrambling the eggs with my back to them.

Kat:

I grumbled before answering. "My first time seeing spray paint...I was little and didn't know what it was. So I was playing with it, throwing it everywhere. Batting it around...and well...it burst apart right on me... I was bright pink for a month...."

Kai:

I grinned at her then nuzzled her hair. “I bet you were adorable covered in pink.” I murmured to her, holing her around the waist.

Kat:

I groaned and hugged him, burying my face in his chest. "It was aweful...I was all sticky for days....and it was just bad..." I complained into his shirt.

Alex:

I set a plate of pancakes on the table, it was piled with 5 so far, but I immediately went back to the stove to start cooking more.

Kai:

I rubbed her back between her wings. “Come on sweetheart, breakfast is ready.” I said softly and turned her around in my lap.

Jemma:

I set the eggs down on the table then looked at Kai and Kat for a moment before going back to the stove. “Hey, nearly done? Wanna eat on the front porch?” I asked not wanting to stay inside and watch Kai and Kat together.

Kat:

I nodded and poured a bunch of syrup onto the pancakes before relaxing against him. I wanted him to feed me but wasn't going to say it.

Alex:

I put five more pancakes on one plate and grabbed the syrup before gesturing with my head to Jemma. The pancakes were to share, as the pancakes were big.

Kai:

I hugged her around the waist and rested my head on her back. She smelled amazing, and she was warm.. I wanted to squeeze her tightly to me, but she was so delicate, I didn’t want to hurt her.

Jemma:

I shrugged and grabbed a couple of forks and lead him out to the front porch. It was misty outside, but the air was wonderfully fresh and significantly warmer than the night before. The night before everything had gone to hell surfaced crystal clear in my memory, my last night alone with Michael, just before Kai had died and I had to sell my soul to the devil (Adam) to get him back. I slid into a porch chair and tried to push it from my mind.

Kat:

"I trust you..." I whispered to him, turning a little in his arms. "No matter what you do, I know you wont hurt me." I rubbed my cheek against his gently.

Alex:

I sat on the ground next to her, my thoughts else where. "One of the things you are best at is not trusting anyone, that is a good trait." I said softly.

Jemma:

“Heh, yup. They all manage to disappoint in the end don’t they? Whether it’s going and offing themself or finding someone they love more than you.” I said bitterly. I looked down at him with a scowl. “Why would you say that? I know its a good trait. I wouldn’t have it if it wasn’t.”

Kai:

My eyes slowly moved over her. I trialed a finger along her arm. “But you’re so delicate.. and soft..” I murmured watching my hand move over her creamy skin. My tone was layered with an almost predatory desire.

Alex:

I paused and looked down, my eyes closed as I struggled with something for a moment. Eventually I opened my eyes and smiled. "Just a warning. But you knew Kai had to grow up sometime. That's out of your hands."

Kat:

I felt goosebumps rise on my arm at the passing of his fingers. I heard the tone in his voice and I bit my lip a little as my heart sped up. I pressed my hands against his chest as I shifted a little in his lap, my eyes never leaving his face.

Jemma:

"I know. I knew it would happen sometime. I guess it's better than the alternative.." I said thinking about his cold lifeless body. My mind was so focused on Kai that I didn't really register what he meant by a warning. "But he's still so young.. Too young.." I said wistfully. I sighed and leaned forward to take a big bite of pancakes with my fork.

Kai:

I slipped the sleeve of her top off her shoulder and leaned down to press my mouth to her skin. It was less a kiss than me sucking on her shoulder, moving slowly to the base of her neck. My hand was flat on her back between her shoulders.

Kat:

I gasped softly, a soft moan escaping my mouth. My fingers dug into his chest a little before balling into fists in his shirt as he continued.

Alex:

"Well, your his...parental figure. Lay some rules down. Besides they are what? Thirteen? Unless he develops through puberty really fast, it isn't that bad is it? Kat was just starting it when I left, but I hear girls always do things faster than boys." I said flashing her a playful grin as I relaxed out.

Kai:

I purred in pleasure when I heard her moan. The hand that had been caressing her arm moved up to the back of her neck as I licked up to her jaw line.

Jemma:

I gritted my teeth. “Well we’re not exactly human, are we? And he’s fourteen. And he’s grown like four inches in a month. So there’s no telling.” I said sharply, looking out into the woods. “What rules am I supposed to lay down anyway since you’re so full of ideas? I’ve never had to set rules before; he’s always just done what I wanted. You know ‘stay here while I’m gone, don’t touch that, follow me’ and what not. Not like I ever had someone set rules or boundaries for me. I just don’t know.” I leaned forward, putting my elbows on my knees and running my hands through my hair. I let out a frustrated groan.

Alex:

My ears twitched a bit as I heard a very faint noise. "Well, for starters. You might want to educate the two about sex and protection. Following instincts for us semi-humans...doesn't turn out well if you don't want little ones running about." I said gesturing over my shoulder towards the house.

Kat:

I gasped and shivered in his arms, my own purr growing in my chest, to match his. My pulse was fluttering, and everywhere he touched felt like it was on fire.

Jemma:

“Oh dear god.” I muttered. That was about the last thing I wanted to do. Contemplating that it was even necessary was just too much for me. He was small enough to carry easily in my arms not too long ago.. Time was moving too fast. I missed my little boy..

Kai:

“I believe you’re supposed to eat breakfast at the table, not each other.” I heard the tired voice of my sister and instantly broke away from Kat, my cheeks slowly turning pink.

Kat:

My face turned red and I hid it in Kai's chest. The fire at his touch had died almost instantly, at the sudden embarrassment. I had no idea what really had come over me just then, all I knew is that it had felt amazing.

Alex:

"I meant like right now. I dont think that Kat is supposed to make those sounds in combination normally. But some other girl broke them apart it sounds like." I said with a shrug. "Jemma, you can't focus completely on everyone, at some point you need to sit back and do something for yourself." I continued getting to my feet to crouch in front of her.

Jemma:

I leaned back in my chair a little. “I do things for myself.” I said defensively. “What do you mean about Kat making noises?” I asked a little confused by that part.

Kai:

I looked down at the table bashfully, I had completely forgotten that we had been in the kitchen. I had completely forgotten that anyone but Kat and I even existed. “That guy made pancakes.” I told my sister who was already helping herself to them.
