Alex:

I shook my head and pressed my forehead to my knee. "No...you're not alone. Kai understands more than you realize...and you still have Ira. The things might be rocky between you both right now but it should fix itself right? And I can't do anything to help with Kat." I closed my eyes, "I'm sorry Jemma."

Jemma:

I knelt down in front of him. “Michael said you wouldn’t leave me.” I whispered with a lump in my throat.

I flinched at that, two things would have broken my resolve to leave. I knew them both perfectly. Certain words from Jemma would break the resolve. And nearly anything to do with my brother. She had hit the brother thing perfectly. "But...I.... I tightened my arms around my leg, a wash of emotions coming over me.

Jemma:

I reached out hesitantly and took hold of his hand. “Please, just don’t go anywhere yet. Please. Just stay. Let Kage help you. Let me help you.” I said softly.

I searched her face, my hand in hers. I closed my eyes and pressed my forehead to my knee again. Suddenly everything around us seemed to smooth out, grow more solid. Even the hole back into the real world that I had opened became less like a tear and more like a doorway. The switch from me taking entire control to Kage being the funnel was drastic and obvious.

Jemma:

I let out a soft breath of relief and squeezed his hand gently in support. “Isn’t that better?” I asked with a tilt of my head.

I considered for a moment before nodding slowly. "I suppose..." I lifted my head, my eyes sliding past her to Kage who was standing patiently off near the door.

Jemma:

I let my hand fall away from his, and looked over my shoulder at Kage. “I guess I should be going.” I said a little reluctantly. I felt close to him right now and I didn’t want to lose that. But things weren’t the way they used to be…

"If you wish...I'm...I'm going to stay here for a bit. I don't want to go out for a while." I admitted softly, my eyes on the doorway.

Jemma:

I watched him for another moment then leaned forward to kiss his cheek. It was sort of a farewell for me to our moment outside of the cold silence that had been our relationship for the past several days. I assumed things would go back to that after I left.

"Could...could you do me a favor?" I asked a hand touching my cheek right where she had just kissed. "Make friends with her again. I don't care about the argument. Let it go....please...for me?" I lifted my gaze up into her eyes.

Jemma:

My expression got hard. “That argument isn’t all that’s between us.” I said without emotion. Ira didn’t need me at all, and there was nothing she could offer me.

I looked up at her my shoulders falling a little as I recognized the look she had on her face. "I know that look..."

Jemma:

“I’ll talk to her,” I said flatly. “I’m just saying, we might not just become friends again. It’s not that easy. But I will try to talk to her.”

I just looked up at her and nodded. She had been nice, and sweet just a second ago. And now...now she was acting much like Adam and his mood swings.

Jemma:

I looked at him for another moment. His expression had changed, hardened. I took in a breath then turned to leave without another word.

I didn't move, my eyes following her as she left. What could I do or say, she had her choices. I had mine.

Ira:

I went back to my room after Jemma came to talk to me. I hadn’t expected her to approach and talk to me. She apologized for yelling at me the other day and kneeing me in the stomach. I apologized too for letting my emotions get out of hand. Then I told her I hadn’t realized she and Alex had been so close, or that it would matter to her if I got with him. I thought she was supposed to be with Adam. The minute I mentioned him, she closed off. She barly said another word to me and left shortly after. I didn’t get it.

Kat:

I drifted, my body feeling like it was touching nothing and everything at the same time. I could breath, but couldn't move. Occasionally I heard voices near me, but what they said I didn't understand or didn't remember. Who I was, what had last happened, I couldn't remember any of it. All I could remember was a building pain. I hurt, like a weight was deep inside me and slowly dragging me down. Draining me. I was tired of the pain, I wanted it to stop. I wanted to die so the pain could stop.

Alex:

I wandered the building an hour or so after Jemma left my shadow room. In the end, I ended up in Kat's room, where I sat watching her. I didn't know what to think, I didn't know what to do.

Jemma:

I paced up and down a deserted hall. I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t able to contact Adam. This had never ever happened before. When I said I needed him, he always showed up. I didn’t know how else I could save Kat. Adam was my only resource.

Alex:

"I'm sorry Kat, I wish I knew some way to help you. Then I could get your advice." I murmured as I leaned back in my chair to look up at the ceiling.

Jemma:

I leaned against the wall and slid down until I was sitting on the floor. I folded my arms and rested my head on my knees.

Aline:

“You’re not supposed to be here.” I said softly, after opening the door and walking into Kat’s room.

Alex:

"I'm not supposed to be in a lot of places. But that never stopped me before." I said softly, my eyes never leaving Kat's face.
