hm weird me....hell yes (open)

I stood with my eyes closed, breathing in and out slowly. I could feel her in the room, but I wasn't sure what to say or do. Running seemed like a good idea, but I didn't, instead I opened a doorway back to Kat's room. "If you want to check on her too..." I said softly, leaving it open.

Jemma:

I nodded and looked up, not at the doorway to Kat, but at his face. "I assume you'll go to Ira." I said softly. "Just... Don't let her have another seizure. I don't know if Aline can help again, but last time, when we were younger, it started getting bad when she had seizures." I told him before stepping through the doorway.

"I will contain her." I said simply following after her. My eyes were sad and my face held longing though for what, not even I knew when she looked at me and I held it as I moved into the room.

Jemma:

I moved over to Kai and sat in the chair next to Kat’s bed. Kai was laying next to her, one arm over her motionless body. He had his face pressed into the pillow next to her hair. I rubbed his back gently.

There was someone with Ira in the corner of the room talking to her softly. It was a girl I had seen with Aline many times. Ira was curled over her knees with her arms around her legs, very obviously not wanting to touch or talk to the girl.

Kat:

I could feel them in the room, but I couldn't do anything. It was frustrating me to no end. Kai I could feel directly, both in the comforting weight of his arm across me, and the warmth of his body beside mine. I could even feel the soft breath near my ear. But no matter how much I yearned to press myself against Kai and tell him that I loved him and missed him...I couldn't. All I had was the sense of his body near mine, and the link of me to him.

I siezed on that idea, going for the link. I poked at it, messed with it until I held onto it with all my might and tried to call to him through the link of our souls. "Kai!"

Kai:

I sat up a little and looked down at her face. I didn’t exactly hear her, or her voice, more just a feeling of her calling my name. “Kat?” I asked softly, watching her face.

"Kai...you can hear me...oh goodness what do I say beyond I miss you. I miss you. I miss you. I miss you!" I whispered into the link.

Kai:

My eyes widened as I looked at her face. I put my hands on either side of her face and stroked her cheeks. I love you, I’m not leaving, I can’t stand to be without you. I thought back to her in a jumble. I put my forehead to hers and closed my eyes.

At first I felt a burning pleasure at his words then it changed into an icy fear. If it comes down to it...you will be staying and working on your happiness right?

Jemma:

My throat was tight. Watching him was almost too much to bear. I knew from experience that he didn’t like anyone witnessing him being emotional. I got up, knowing he wouldn’t miss me if I left, he was in a different world right now, one I couldn’t help him with. Not yet.
I moved over to Ira and spoke to the girl next to her. “Can we give them some privacy?”

Kat:

Please...you have to promise me that no matter what happens you wont just give up. You have to live, survive, and be happy. I begged across the link.

Kai:

I’ll promise if you do. I thought after a moment of silence. Talking to her, while infinitely better than not being able to hear her, was painful. It didn’t seem natural to be talking with her, yet holding onto her motionless body.

I'm trying...but I'm just tired. With you here everything seems better. They always have. I replied, wishing I could just hold him.

Kai:

Well I'm not leaving. I wont leave you. My arms tightened around her to hold her firmly to me.

Kat:

I struggled and struggled, wanting to hug him. Kai...can you help? I can't move and I want to hug you. I can feel things...I just can't move. I'm sorry... I faded out for a moment, drifting off before with a surge I clung to the bond between us. I could feel his worry and concern so I tried to distract him. I don't think I'm wearing much...so if you do move me...or join me under the covers you had better behave. I can still feel you know.

Kai:

I smiled softly at that. I got up for a moment and pulled aside the covers, she was wearing a soft blue tshirt and panties. Carefully I crawled under with her and covered us both. I wiggled a little to wrap her fully in my arms so I was holding her against my chest. I nuzzles her cheek. Just rest my love.

My love? I could get used to that...and you smell good... I murmured across the connection. I didn't know if I smelled good, and that worried me for a time before I drifted off into sleep.

Kai:

I knew she had fallen asleep and so I let my mind rest, trying not to think about what could happen, or what I would do if it did. I went into a hibernation state sleeping next to her.

Kai:

I could feel her slipping. Even while I was just sleeping, I felt ore alone. I had nightmairs about being without her until one woke me up. I tried to talk to Kat but our link seemed blocked. Shortly after that someone came in to check on her, they seemed to disapprove of me being in there, but they didn't try to make me leave. I felt empty, I didn't even bother watching the person, just let them do what they had to do until I could lay next to her again.
They left, and a few minutes later came back with a sleepy looking Jemma. She sat down next to me and explained that Kat was doing much worse than she was this morning.

Ira:

The rest of the day had been horrible. They suppressed my power again but they said that was all they could do for now, that it might come back. I spent the rest of the day in my room, not wanting to be around anyone, especially not after what had happened this morning. Eventually I fell asleep with Alex next to me.
A few hours later I was woken up by a knock on the door and someone telling us that Kat wasn't doing very well, and she probably didn't have much longer.

Alex:

I felt the energy drain out of my shoulders at the person's words. I slid to the floor my back against the door jam into the bathroom. Kat wasn't going to make it.

Ira:

It took me a couple moments to register what was going on, then I got out of bed and went over to kneel in front of Alex. “We should go see her.” I said softly, putting my hand on his shoulder and squeezing gently.

Jemma:

I was sitting on the bed with Kai. He hadn’t spoken since I told him Kat wasn’t going to make it, he had barely moved. I had my hand on his back and was rubbing up and down trying to comfort him without smothering him. My heart felt like it was breaking into a million pieces, and I knew it must be so much worse for him.

I looked up when Alex and Ira walked in. I was thankful that it was only them and at least Aline and her people were giving us time alone.

Kat:

Every breath hurt, and I just felt cold and so very alone. I could feel Kai only faintly through the link. Like he was at the end of a long tunnel. No matter how I tried to cross that tunnel or to enter it, I was blocked.

Jemma:

Kai moved a little and glanced over to see who else was in the room. “Why are they here?” He asked in a dead tone. “You’re not the only one who cares about her.” I told him gently. He was quiet for a long time. “I’m so sorry honey.” I said softly. “I know what it’s like for you.”

“No you don’t, you can’t know what it’s like, no one can.” He said back icily. I sighed. “Sweetie, yes I do. I know the agony of what you’re going through. In fact, everyone in this room does. You could not find three people who understand better, what you are going through. And I hate that you have to go through it now, but we are proof that you can live through this.” He gave a little shudder once I finished and leaned forward to press his face into my shoulder. I gathered him into my arms and held him tightly while he shook.

Ira:

My eyes teared up at Jemma’s words. I held onto Alex’s arm and squeezed it gently.

Alex:

"She was my closest friend at the school. I kept my sanity for as long as I did only because of her." I said quietly.
