I raised an eyebrow at her before moving over and looking into her eyes. "Jemma, focus for me please. I need you alright? I need you to be yourself, strong and infallible."

 

I brought the rage up to my eyes again. "Interrogate her. And find out why she hasn't held her end of the deal."

 

"Because I want you to alter her memory. Make her believe she can tell me everything I ask." I folded my arms and worked on getting my rage under control.

 

I closed my eyes and felt through the shadows for Aline.  Once I had located her it was as easy as reaching through the wall and yanking her through the shadows to me.

Kat:

I shifted and made a soft sound. It was followed by a single word, "Kai..." I could feel him near by, the bond of my soul into him making it so. But I couldn't make myself wake up so I could see him and talk to him. I wanted too, I wanted to see him and tell him I loved him.

 
 
 

"You are going to tell me what is going. You have made promises that have not been kept. Explain yourself." I said, arms folded as I leaned against the wall.

 

"You have also promised to do something for Kat. And yet she still dies slowly, and you take her away from her love." I let out a slow breath. "What are you planning Aline? How can we trust you after neglecting to inform us of a relapse with such a dangerous power."

 

I gave a dangerous grin. "No one is like me. Because I was made to kill those who couldn't be affected by those like you Jemma." Every shadow in the room seemed to swell and grow, and even the lights dimmed as I focused my gaze on Aline. "Talk. Now. Or I will do worse things than kill you Aline."

 

"I already told you. I can do worse to you than kill you." I moved forward until a scant foot separated us. "Do you wish to test me and my powers? Shadows are just a small part of my power."

 

"Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. I want to know what your plan is for this facility. For us." I moved forward and pressed my hand against her shoulder. The shoulders started sliding over her, drawing her into them bit by bit.

 

"How?" I asked, keeping her where she was. The shadows moved and writhed, seeming unhappy to have been held back.

"Now is not a time to test me with defiance. Now is the time where you roll over and obey." My voice was quiet but I wasn't looking at her. I was trying to see this from as many angles as I could, to save those I cared about.

Jemma:

She was silent for a moment then it seemed to pain her as she spoke. “I have a special talent. I can create something that… Channels other powers, manipulates them, makes them stronger, preserves them, stops them.” She explained and reached down the front of her top to grab a dark crystal on the end of a necklace. It was the same think I had seen in place of a needle going into Kat’s arm. “That is my only power. I can create this crystal, and use it on others. In the hands of someone else they can only use it on themselves, but I can manipulate powers through it. That is my secret Alex. I use it to help others, and I only tell people I trust, because power in the wrong hands can be devastating.” She gave him a hard look.

I gave a wry smile at that. "A shame it couldn't work on me. As a show of good faith I will tell you my power. My power works through shadows, I can make them come alive do my bidding, move through them as easily as you can pass through a door. But above that, my power is the power to consume. It is why powers do not work on me. Anything that comes in contact with me runs the risk of being consumed. Whether I wish it or not, it views all powers as threats. I can never receive healing should I come to be injured. If I have the memory of slaughtering my sister because the school ordered me too, I can't forget it through others powers. I was trained and taught to be the one the school sent to hunt those with strong powers. My test of loyalty was something I passed and failed. It is why I no longer work for them." I let her go and the shadows receded on the walls. "I was made to be alone, and finding people I care about is difficult. So I will protect everyone who has made it close to my heart. Ira, Kat, Kai, and especially Jemma." My voice grew almost to a whisper on the last name.
