Kai:

I turned my face slightly and pressed my lips to hers softly, sliding my hand to the back of her neck.

My eyes slid closed and I kissed him back softly, a small shiver running through me at the feeling of his lips.

Kai:

I tried to keep the kiss soft and simple, but all those weeks of being unable to be like this with her bled through. There was urgency in my lips.

I kissed him back, melting into him little bit by bit. When his kiss grew more urgent, more intense I got swallowed up into it. My breathing deepened and my fingers found his hair, tangling up into it.

Kai:

Time seemed to stand still while I kissed her. When I finally pulled back I held her face in my hands and pressed my forehead to hers, breathing heavily.

I was panting softly my eyes opening to gaze into his.

Kai:

"You should rest." I told her softly. I wanted her badly, but she was still recovering.

I pressed against him and hid my face in him. I could feel his arousal but I didn't comment on it. "Will you stay here with me?"

Kai:

“Of course.” I said softly, laying down on the pillow and gathering her in my arms. I let out a quiet sigh into her hair.

"I'm sorry..." I murmured as I snuggled against him in the spooning position. I wanted to be close to him, closer than even now, but I couldn't...I didn't no how and that scared me.

Kai:

“Everything is okay now.” I nuzzled her. “Just rest. When you’ve recovered, we can go back to the canyon. I think Jemma will be there.”

I nodded slowly. "I love you Kai...thank you for being here with me..." I murmured softly, my eyes sliding closed.

Kai:

“It’s my pleasure. I love you too.” I murmured, closing my eyes to sleep with her.

I drifted off, snuggled back against him with my body pressed close.

Kai:

I fell asleep quickly with my arms around her. We slept for hours there, with the soft light coming in through the window.

Jemma:

I woke up from my nap to the fading light from the window. The sun was just starting to set. I sat up and brought my knees up to my chest with a yawn. I froze then gasped in relief. I could move my legs! Promptly I jumped of the bed and stumbled into the wall. It wasn’t all the way back, but I could walk at least.

Alex:

I was down in the small gym slowly doing push ups. I just felt the need to be doing something, anything. I couldn't get Jemma's words out of my head or Ira's cold body out of it either.

Jemma:

I stumbled out in to the living room, keeping one hand on the wall for balance. It was empty and quiet. I made my way to the door and stepped out into the evening light. I tried to find my wings but they were as limp as they were before. That scared me. I settled onto the bench on the porch, staring up at the sky.

After a while I noticed someone flying up above the house. He must have spotted me because he banked and landed in the trees. “Hey,” He said hesitantly and moved closer. “Can we talk?” I stared at him coolly without answering.

“Listed Jemma, I know I have done terrible things to you, but I’m not that person right now… My mind is cleaned from all the other stuff. I’m who I used to be.” He started to step up onto the porch but my expression stopped him. I could tell he wasn’t the same that he had been. He was different, softer. The way he moved and looked was completely different.

“Okay. You still don’t trust me. That makes complete sense. I just want you to know that I would never have hurt you in my right mind. It makes me sick to think of what I’ve done to you. I’m so ashamed. I wish I could go back and fix everything. I wish I could fix everything now. I know apologizing won’t mean much to you… Just know that you’re the love of my life. You’re my soulmate. I care about you more than anything. I am truly sorry for everything I ever did to hurt you.”

I stopped counting and I didn't stop until my arms couldn't take it anymore. I collapsed and then rolled onto my back panting. My body was drenched in sweat and I stared up at the ceiling trying to get my thoughts in order. I was dating Jemma again I believed and I couldn't be happier. But I also couldn't decide if she wanted me with her for her own happiness...or for mine.

Jemma:

I was quiet for a long moment. I could see the pain in his face. I knew he was telling the truth. “I can forgive you.” I said quietly and saw a hint of a spark in his eyes. “Adam, I can forgive you, but I can never really forget what you’ve done. Part of me hates you so much it makes me sick. But then there’s a small part of me that still loves you- not you now- but who you used to be. I still grieve the boy I was in love with. But that’s not you.”

“It is now,” He interrupted, before I had a chance to go on. “I’m who I used to be Jemma. If you can forgive me, then there is a chance…”

“No, no there’s no chance. Too much has happened between us for there to ever be a chance. I can forgive you. I can see that you’re not who I hate. But I can’t be with you, not after everything.” I said firmly.

“We’re meant to be with each other. We’re perfect for each other. Jemma, we have a second chance, we can make everything right. It can be how it used to be, before everything-“

“No! No it can’t. I’m not the same. You may think you’re the same as you used to be, but I’m a completely different person!” I my voice was raised now. “You don’t love me, you love the idea of me. You don’t want me, you want who I used to be. We can’t ever go back to how it was because we aren’t those people anymore. We aren’t naïve, innocent kids. We have a second chance, both of us, but it isn’t with each other.”

"Fuck I still don't know what to do or say...I don't know if I should cheer and shout or if I should worry...fret...hell....can I just scream?" I asked the ceiling before with a groan I slowly got to my feet. I didn't bother grabbing my shirt and putting it back on. Instead I simply grabbed it and carried it with me through the house until I arrived in the kitchen. I looked around for a moment before cocking my head and closing my eyes. I searched with my powers before locating the other two and nodding to myself.

"Time to make food again..." I murmured as I released the contact and let them be.

Jemma:

I didn't want to see the look on his face anymore, one of pain and crushed hope. I stood up, my legs feeling stronger now, and turned away from him. "I'm sorry this is how it turned out." I said, my tone softer than before. I left before he could answer, Hoping off the porch and heading into the woods.

Alex:

I started making dinner, not bothering with a shirt.

Jemma:

I found my way to the edge of the canyon and looked out over the magnificent view. I wanted to be flying so badly. A life without wings was not one I wanted to live. I stepped up to the edge and untied my wings to let them free. They fell limply to the ground, useless.

With dinner prepared I replaced my shirt and went looking for people so they could come eat. I found Adam first and got him moving towards the food but after a search of the house and no Jemma I frowned and started looking outside. I found her at the edge of a cliff, and I approached her quietly, clearing my throat as I went just to make noise and not startle her. "Dinner is ready Jemma." I remarked softly.

Jemma:

I hadn’t moved since I came out here. The soft breeze running through my feathers was the closest I could get to the feeling I craved. I started to turn when I heard Alex but I placed my foot on an unsteady rock and it crumbled beneath me. I didn’t scream as I fell, falling was a familiar feeling to me. What scared me was the impact on the little ledge below. I landed on my wing awkwardly, the other one draped over me and protected me from the smaller rocks still crumbling over me.
